What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Carrying an Empty Plate Carrier Vest?

Plate carrier vests are vests worn for ballistic protection, often constructed from cloth, and worn over armor to protect the wearer’s torso. Commonly used as lining material is Aramid, and most vests feature front and back armor plate storage pockets. You will be protected by these armor plates.

First and foremost, plate carrier vests offer no resistance to missiles. Officers should not put all their faith in their carriers to protect them from gunfire. A plate carrier’s safety depends on whether it contains ballistic plates. The degree of protection provided is decided by the ballistic plates. Plate carrier vests provide varied levels of protection. One carrier may deliver ballistic plates with differing levels of protection.
